Amazonas Plástico
Plastic is one of the great inventions of the modern world and, at the same time, one of its great problems. As people who live in big cities, we think that plastic does not belong or should not belong in nature and should not be part of those societies that live in nature. However, it is an indispensable material in the life of societies both in the cities, in the countryside, in the mountains, as well as in the jungle. This photographic project seeks to re-stage the use of plastic within the Ticuna community, in San Pedro de los Lagos in the Colombian Amazon, likewise, it seeks to show how this indigenous community has experienced a process of empowerment and appropriation of this material that, although it poses a risk to the sustainability of the territory, also allows them to benefit from its uses and, thereby, serve as a symbol and a connecting bridge between those from "here" and those from "there", between the ancestral past and the needs of today. Between nature and the unnatural.
El plástico es una de las grandes invenciones del mundo moderno y, al mismo tiempo, uno de sus grandes problemas. Como personas que vivimos en las grandes ciudades, pensamos que el plástico no pertenece o no debería pertenecer en la naturaleza ni debería hacer parte de aquellas sociedades que viven en la naturaleza. Sin embargo, es un material indispensable en la vida de las sociedades tanto en las ciudades, como en el campo, como en las montañas, como en la selva. Este proyecto fotográfico busca re-escenificar el uso del plástico al interior de la comunidad de los Ticuna, en San Pedro de los Lagos de la Amazonía colombiana, así mismo, busca mostrar como esta comunidad indígena ha experimentado un proceso de empoderamiento y apropiación de este material que, aunque reviste un riesgo para la sostenibilidad del territorio, también les permite beneficiarse de sus utilidades y, con ello, servir como un símbolo y un puente de conexión entre los de “aquí” y los de “allá”, entre el pasado ancestral y las necesidades del hoy. Entre la naturaleza y lo innatural.
